Here is the critique of www.htchan.com based on the Stanford's credibility guidelines:
1. Make it easy to verify the accuracy of the information on your site - I think I have put enough external useful link to verify the accuracy of the info on my site.
2. Show that there's a real organization behind your site - I don't think this is applicable to a personal blog.
3. Highlight the expertise in your organization and in the content and services you provide - I do put my qualification in the "about me". I guess I have done my best to show my credentials.
4. Show that honest and trustworthy people stand behind your site - See 3.
5. Make it easy to contact you - I do have my email address on my "about" page. To prevent from spam, I have made it an image.
6. Design your site so it looks professional (or is appropriate for your purpose) - I think my site is reasonably profession. The content is decent and the design of the site is not funky.
7. Make your site easy to use -- and useful - I think the info of my blog is informative. It contains some how-tos in tech area, shares some of my opinions on food and useful facts.
8. Update your site's content often (at least show it's been reviewed recently) - My site is updated 2-3 times per week. I believe that this is often enough.
9. Use restraint with any promotional content (e.g., ads, offers) - Minimal promotional content, I have only posted books I like.
10. Avoid errors of all types, no matter how small they seem - I have tried my best to keep my blog typo-free. Also, I checked and made sure all the links work before I posted them. The site should be up as long as typepad's servers are up.
I think I will try to add more food- and Ann Arbor-related content to my blog to tie it more to our hub site www.nicetaste.com. I believe I posted too many blogging experience entries and thus misled Google to think this site has nothing to do with Ann Arbor and Food. I have modified my weblog's catchphrase to include "Ann Arbor Food". I hope more food blog entries and this will help to change Google's impression on my site.
